2017 March Adventures: Joshua Tree Dry Lake, “See you later”, & Yosemite

Can you believe March is nearly over?! It went by so quickly! March was a fun-filled month. It was filled with some emotional highs and definite emotional lows, with a close friend moving all the way across the globe. Also, this month truly kicked off the next couple of months I have ahead, since April, May, and June will be quite hectic. So let’s delve into to the month of March.

Joshua Tree Camping: The month of March started off with a good old camping trip to Joshua Tree… yes, again. I can’t get enough of this place… can’t you tell? My fiance and I went camping with the same group of friends. We spent the days hanging out and enjoying the environment around us and the night exchanging stories around a camp fire. It’s always great starting off the month camping and disconnecting from the real world for a weekend.

Not Saying “Goodbye”, but “See you soon”: One of my good friends from middle school moved to Australia this month for an indefinite amount of time. Her family threw her a going away party and a bunch of us got together to celebrate her new chapter with her. I’m so excited for her to start this new adventure, but at the same time I was sad to see her go. Naturally, I nearly cried… I’m such a baby. But I know that I will see her in the near future. And now that it is so easy to connect with friends across the globe, I know that we will still stay close.

Yosemite National Park: This past weekend, Wesley and I went to visit Yosemite National Park. We have both been before with family, but never have visited it together. We left the LA area early around 6:00 AM and headed out to the National Park. When we entered the park, it still took us almost an hour to get to the valley floor, but it was well worth it. We drove through the tunnel that leads into the valley and my jaw dropped. The view you see instantly takes your breathe away. The shear magnitude of the beauty of Half Dome, El Capitan, and the cascading waterfalls are so picturesque. We did a few hikes within the valley floor and I was in awe of the environment I was immersed in. After a long day of sightseeing we checked into our tent/cabin at Half Dome Village. Since we knew that it was going to be cold at night, we opted for a heated tent… which I highly recommend if you are staying there during Winter… even though it’s already Spring, it was still a bit nippy. Our tent was nice and cozy and just perfect for our stay. We had dinner and the hall within the village and enjoyed the free wifi and just hung out there for the rest of the night. The next day we woke up in the valley floor, which was pretty cool. We had breakfast again in the hall. The nice thing about staying within the National Park was that we could take our time leaving the park and we were able to enjoy the views just a little bit longer. Before we left the park, we did one more small hike to Bridalveil Falls and then we were off and headed back home.

Review: Etsy Store – Heartificial

Recently, I became very inspired by one of my favorite Youtubers, Estee Lalonde because she recently posted a video about her DIY Denim Jacket. She decorated one of her old denim jackets in pins and patches that express her and her feelings. I loved the idea and thought that I would start a DIY patch and pin project on an old Levi’s jacket that I have.

I started to roam the internet to find some patches and pins that express things I love and things that represent me. I found myself on Etsy a lot because they offer a lot of customizable products and have very unique items as well. I bought a few patches that I though would go well with my project and a few pins. As my search was winding down, I thought I need a few more pins to pull the project together. I stumbled across an Etsy shop called Heartificial and instantly fell in love with their items. Their shop is filled with fun and playful pins, cross stitch items, and other crafty items. I particularly found myself drawn to their enamel pins. They have a lot of your favorite TV characters immortalized as pins. Once I saw the FRIENDS section, I knew I had to have to Chandler Bing and Joey Tribbiani pins. I instantly ordered them. They arrived in less than a week and right on time with no issues. In the package you receive your items along with a business card with all of their contact info and note expressing their gratitude. Also, the owner wrote a sweet message on the package stating “Thank you Jasmine!”, which I thought was a nice and personal touch from the company. The pins came exactly how they are pictured on the store site. I would definately recommend this Etsy store to anyone. Absolutely love it.

Camping 2012

Last weekend I went camping at McGrath State Beach with a bunch of high school friends and it was one of the most fun weekends I’ve had in a while. As a group we haven’t had many big outings like this, just Vegas, which was amazing, but I’m hoping after this trip we can start making it more of a tradition.

The trip started off a bit hectic, trying to get everyone together and trying to leave at a decent time from home. I have a bad tendency to stress about the little things, which I am working on. But soon enough we were off to Oxnard as a group. I was completely grateful that we were able to get two campsites that were right next to each other and that one site was big enough for all ten of us to fit in.

The first day consisted of setting up our tents, including a tent mansion, and just getting all of crap out of the car. After we accomplished setting up our gear, we celebrated by shot gunning beers (which was my first time) and shots all around.  Also, we explored the beach and found a dead seal, which all of my guy friends were fascinated with. The beach was so beautiful, we pretty much had it to our selves that day, besides the dead seal and as a bonus we were all pretty buzzed. Unfortunately with the beach, the water had so many rocks within the shore which made it painful to walk in. That nigh we prepared our first meal as a group which consisted of delicious kabobs, cheeseburger mac (which everyone loved except for my boyfriend), and sausages. It was so gooooooood. That night we pretty much all slept pretty early because we were just all so pooped from drinking haha.

The second day consisted of waking up early at 6:45AM to seagulls who were fighting for food. The day was pretty much a lazy day of playing drinking games like spoons with beer!, kings cup (which was my first time, lame I know), and beer pong. Also, ironically there was a water main burst on the main street near the campsite, so we had no running water and working toilets for the rest of the day, which was a bust. They brought in porta potties about 3 hours later, which sucked cause we all had to pee from the alcohol. So some of us peed in bushes. Yay, real camping -_-. Anyways, we also went back to beach again for the afternoon and the dead seal was still there with a a new friend, a dead pelican. We all got sunburned from the beach. After we got back to the beach it was just a chill night, we all knocked out pretty early again. And it’s ironic, because we came into this trip with the idea that we were going to be a very noisy group, but in actuality, we were the quietest.

The last day was just all about checking out of the campsite before 12PM, which we did! 🙂

This last weekend was just amazing. I’m very grateful for the time that I spent with my oldest friends. Even though planning this event was a bit stressful and the fact that we don’t see each other as much anymore, this last weekend solidified our friendships for a very long time. And also, even though I don’t have that many views on this page, I just want to say thank you to those friends that went I camping with and that made this event possible.
