Current Favorites: Summer 2017

August was a little uneventful, although Wesley and I did watch the Hogwarts light show at Universal Studios with our friends… and it was amazing… we didn’t get around to do much during the month. With work and other personal obligations, we ended up staying at home for most of the month. So, instead of doing a monthly recap of what we did, I thought I do a current favorites of some of the things I’ve been currently loving.

  1. NYX Stay Matte Powder Foundation – I picked this powder up a while ago on a whim because one weekend I forgot all my make up at work (I do my make up at work) and this was a great find. I have really oily skin and this helps keep me matte for the most part. Although I have to reapply, it doesn’t look cakey, but natural.
  2. Real Techniques Face Brush – I love dense brushes for liquid foundation. I wear liquid foundation everytime I do my make up, even if it is minimal make up. This brush help spread the foundation evenly and consistently without streaks. Also, these line of brushes are so affordable and are great quality. This brush holds up with weekly cleanings and it doesn’t shed.
  3. NYX HD Concealer – I bought this concealer the same weekend that I bought the powder foundation. I have heard a lot about this product and was curious about it. I really like this product because it’s not too liquid, it has great coverage, and blends in seamlessly into my skin.
  4. Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade – I have a weird thing about my eyebrows. Most people say that I don’t need to fill them in, but I always feel the need to have them done. For a while, I was a little hesitant to buy this product because of the price point ($18), but one day I decided to bite the bullet and buy it. I have no regrets. Although you need a light hand to apply this pomade, it is amazing. It doesn’t move and it keeps your hairs in place. I absolutely love it.
  5. Tarte Tartelette Palette – My best friend got me this palette and it is so good! The texture of the powders are so smooth and not chalky at all and they blend so well. The palette consist of neutral colors so it can go with almost any occasion.
  6.  Aquaphor – This is an oldie, but a goodie. Growing up I had severe eczema on my face and legs. This product helped keep my flare ups down and under control. Although my severe eczema has gone away, I occasionally get flare ups on my arms and neck especially in hot weather, so recently I have been grabbing for this again. It helps control my skin with cracking and helps keeps it hydrated so it can heal properly.  (TMI – sorry!)

Podcast Favorite – Losing 100lbs with Phit-N-Phat – Yes, the name of this podcast is ridiculous, but I have been really trying to get into a healthy mindset about my body and mind. I figure, if I can listen to positive things about healthy eating and healthy lifestyle I too can be on the right track to a healthier life (kind of like “fake it, till you make it” mind set). I didn’t think I would like this podcast because the host, Corinne, is way over the top with her southern accent and her persona, but I’ve been really liking the “tough love” that she gives. She lost 100lbs over a the course of a few years and she shares her experiences and gives her tips on how she got in mindset to loose weight and how to do it right. She also calls out all of the excuses to everyone of us tells ourselves on why we can’t loose weight. Love this podcast.

Music – I have fallen back into listening to 30 Seconds to Mars. Growing up I loved their music and I still do, but when they released their newest single “Walk on Water” I instantly was hooked back on to their music.

Thanks for reading my current favorites! Until next time! 😉

Make Up Review: Kat Von D – Lock It Foundation

About 2 months ago, I bought the Kat Von D “Lock It Foundation” and I thought I would do a quick review on my thoughts on this product.

 photo IMG_1430_zpsvhod889g.jpg

I have only tried Kat Von D’s pressed powder foundation and really loved it, but sadly it shattered. I’m always drawn to Kat Von D’s products because I know they are pretty good quality, high pigmented, and full coverage. I went to Sephora looking for a new high liquid foundation. I was interested in the Kat Von D’s “Lock It Foundation” because it states that it is full coverage, 24-hour wear, transfer resistant, matte finish, fragrance free, and oil free.

 photo IMG_1433_zps1gqxypus.jpg

I’ve been using this product for past 2-3 months and I have been loving it. A lot of product goes a long way. I only use about 3/4’s of a pump of foundation and it covers my whole face. I use this foundation almost everyday for work and it last all day. It fades a little bit, but for the most part it is long lasting. There are a few negative things about this product. One, this product is a bit messy (see picture). The product clumps up at the pump and leaks a little when you try to cover it. Also, the product is a little hard to blend in than most foundations. Because it is full coverage and matte, the product is pretty thick. It probably takes me twice as long to blend.

 photo IMG_1434_zps6duap1xy.jpg
Overall, this foundation is great and good for full coverage and all day wear. I would highly recommend this for someone who is looking for a full coverage foundation, but if you need something more natural looking, I would recommend something else.

Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed it!

Current Favorites

Since I don’t really change up my daily routine too much to do Monthly Favorites, I thought I’d share my current favorites with you all.

1. Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation – I have mentioned this product more than a few times on this blog, but I love it so much. For me, it is a tried and true product that I know I can depend on if I want good and lasting coverage. This product feels light on the face, but still gives great full coverage. What I like the most about this product is that it blends so well into your skin and looks natural. For this product, you push your brush into the netting of the product and blend in with a thick make up brush.

2. Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette – This was one of my first Urban Decay products that I have bought. I was tempted to buy one of the Naked Palette, but I didn’t want to commit to buying a $50 palette, so I thought this product was a great alternative. I think this product lives up to it’s name of being a great basic palette. The eyeshadows blend really well and is a great palette to use as a neutral palette.

3. Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo – I know that there is a huge trend right now of not washing your hair everyday, but I am not a true follower of this trend. I get really self conscious about not washing my hair everyday because I feel like my hair gets oily quickly. But there are some days where I get lazy and don’t want to wash my hair. On those days, I reach for this dry shampoo. This dry shampoo does not leave a white cast like most other products and it really helps absorb the oils from your hair and it smells amazing. I section off my hair and spray directly into my roots and rub and brush into my hair and it last all day.

4. Adidas Thunder Sackpack – I have had this backpack for a while now, but it wasn’t until recently that I’ve really appreciated it. I bought this backpack while I was on vacation in Quebec City. What I love about this product is that it is great quality for the price that it is. This bag retails for $17, which i think is a bargain for Adidas. This backpack has a great soft material inside the pack and has convenient zippers to hold all of your stuff. I have had it for nearly a year now and it is still holding up well.

5. NYX Tame and Frame Tinted Brow Pomade – I have been a lover of the ELF eyebrow gel, but I wanted to try something similar but different. This product has great pigmentation , but still gives a natural look. This product really controls your hair and gives you a sharp finish to your brows.

6. Nike Roshe Run – These were my first Nike purchases ever! I have had these for a few years, but I recently fell back in love with these shoes. Wearing these shoes feel like walking on clouds and are so comfortable to wear. If you need good support to your arches, these are great because of the thick soles of the shoe. I love running and trail hiking in these shoes. The only down side to these shoes are trying to keep it clean, but that’s ok because you can just wipe it down and it’ll be good as new. I have two pairs of Roshe Run, but I hope to grow my collection.

Mini Haul : Benefit & Tarte

Back in November, my best friend gave me a wonderful gift for my birthday! She got me Benefit Cosmetics REAL Cheeky Party Holiday Blush Palette & Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette. Both of these palettes are amazing and I was so grateful to receive these.

Benefit Cosmetics: REAL Cheeky Party Holiday Blush Palette

This palette comes with 4 blushes, 1 bronzers, 1 highlighter, mascara, and eyeliner.

Tarte: Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette

This palette includes 12 matte neutral eyeshadows.

Both of these palettes are amazing  quality and long lasting. I’m so excited that I get to explore more higher end brands and try these palettes out. These palettes are also really pigmented and would be great on many different skin tones. Also, the packaging is amazing for both products. My collection of high end make up is growing and I’m so excited! 🙂

Hope you enjoyed this quick post!

Mini Beauty Haul | Sephora and Lush

Over the weekend, I decided to pick up some beauty items and treat myself to some luxuries.

Lush: I decided to walk to into Lush for the first time ever and was pleasantly surprised! The prices of everything were not over the top like I had expected and the staff was really helpful and not intimidating. I wanted to pick up a few bath bomb and also to try out a face mask.

Pink Bath Bomb: This bomb has a very sweet smell with a hint of vanilla to it which drew me in. The cute flowers are a cute touch to the bath bomb.

Avobath Bomb: If you’re not a fan of lemon grass then this bath bomb is not for you. Fortunately for me, I love the sent because it smells so fresh and so clean which can be so invigorating!

Rose Queen Bath Bomb: I love floral scents and the scent on this bath bomb is really strong. I can just imagine using this bath bomb leaving my skin smooth and silky with the added flower petals. I’m excited to use this.

Mask of Magnaminity – Self Preserving: When I saw and smelled this mask, I was hooked. The description of this mask states that it has peppermint in it and knew that it would be a refreshing mask to use. I used this mask about a week ago and absolutely loved it. After you leave this mask on for about 5 – 10 minutes, use some water to slowly and gently scrub the mask off. My skin felt fresh and tight after the mask was off and i really felt like it got deep into my pores to give my skin a deep cleanse. I really love it.

Sephora: I stopped into Sephora to pick up two items; one that I’ve been wanting to try and one that I needed more of.

tarte – Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation: When I saw this foundation, I was really intrigued because of the mesh covering over the foundation. To get the foundation, you lightly press down on the mesh with a flat top brush and just the right amount of foundation will be applied on to your brush. I have used this a few times along with the liquid foundation from tarte as well and it is really amazing. The coverage is great and gives amazing coverage, but still looks very natural.

Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer: This bronzer is a classic and is worth the money. It gives you great dimension back into your face after you apply your foundation while still looking natural.  I’ve been using this bronzer for a few years now and I am still a believer that this bronzer is one of the best bronzers I have used before.

Hope you enjoyed the post! Till next time, see ya!

Sephora Wish List

Today I thought I would share my Sephora Wish List, or Bucket List, items that I hope one day I would like to own. Below are the items that have been on my wish list for a while or items that I’ve recently heard about through friends and youtubers. Hopefully, soon, I will be picking up these items over time.

Perricone MD – Hypoallergenic Firming Eye Cream : Since I am getting older and lines and bags are getting more define on my face, I want to start investing in Eye Creams and other firming moisturizers and lotions. I’ve been using this brand of moisturizer for a while now and i really love it and I thought that eye cream would be a great investment to my skin.

Murad – Time Release Acne Cleanser : I’ve heard a lot about this brand by multiple Youtubers and I’m hoping to get my hands on this soon. I do suffer from adult acne every once in a while and I think that this product would help combat acne break outs and spots and blemishes. It seems like it’s light, yet very powerful.

Kat Von – D Lock It Tattoo Foundation :  I’ve been using Kat Von D’s pressed powder foundation for the last two years and it give amazing coverage even on it’s own. I really like full coverage foundations and since this foundation is called “Tattoo” foundation, I’m sure that I will get awesome coverage from this liquid foundation as well.

Hourglass – Veil Mineral Primer : Right now, I am currently using Benefit’s POREfessional Primer and I am currently loving it, but I’m hoping switch things up and try out the Hourglass Primer. I have really oily skin and since the name has “Mineral” in it, it sounds very light and natural. I’ve heard of this product through Youtubers and beauty bloggers all the time and I’m excited to hopefully try this out soon.

Buxom – True Nude Lip Foundation : This product claims to have long lasting power and claims to be smooth, which really caught my attention. My lips can get chapped really easily and I’m hoping that these claims will be true. Also, this item claims to match your lip color and give a “better than your lip color” natural color. I’m hooked!

Benefit Cosmetics – Boi-ing Concealer : Since I am a new lover of Benefit Cosmetics, I really want to try out their tried and true concealers. Ever since I started to dabble in make up, I’ve always heard about this product from friends and Youtubers a like. I’ve this product last and blends easily into to the skin while still concealing imperfections and blemishes. I want it!

Tarte – Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara : I don’t know what makes this smart, but this mascara looks like it has an amazing wand that while definitely lift and separate the lashes. This product claims to lengthen, condition, and repair your lashes, while hydrating and making your lashes healthier, which is always a plus. I’ve used another Tarte mascara and it is not disappointing.

Clinique – Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour : I’ve never really tried many products from Clinique, except for one old liptstick that my sister had laying around and it’s pretty good for being as old as it is. I’ve never used a stick formula contour before, so I thought that Clinique would be a great start. And because it is a stick form, it seems like it would be more precise in terms of where you want your contour to show and to start, I’d just have to practice blending out the harsh lines.

Nars – The Multiple : I only own one thing from Nars and that is there infamous blush in Orgasm. Because their products are on the higher end and I want to start to dabble more into their brand, why not use a product that has multiple uses? This product can be used for eyes, lips, body, and will give your skin an amazing glow… as it claims, which caught my attention. I’m really eager to give this try.

Smashbox – Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder : I have one product from Smashbox which is their BB cream, which I really love because it gives great coverage while still being light on the skin. When I saw this product and read the description, I had a feeling that I would really enjoy this product. This product claims to keep your skin hydrated while keeping your skin radiant. Also, this product claims to minimize signs of aging… we’ll see about that… Also, what caught my attention was that it has different packaging than most pressed powders in that you shave off only what you need and avoid mess! I need this!

GRWM: Snapchat Edition

Yesterday while I was getting ready for a dinner with my boyfriend’s family, I thought why not share this through Snapchat?! Below I’ll explain what products I used while getting ready and provide links to the products! Foundation and Concealer:  For the evenings look, I primed my face with Benefit’s Porefessional before apply any make up to my face. After that, I grabbed my new foundation, Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Foundation in Medium Beige. I applied my foundation with Real Technique’s Expert Face Brush. I love this brush because it is so dense and blends foundation so well. Next, I reached for my current favorite concealer which is Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind Eraser. This concealer is great for concealing dark circles under the eyes and for covering spots. I blended this with The Painter: Airbrush Sponge. It’s a dupe for the Beauty Blender. I didn’t feel like fully committing yet to the Beauty Blender, but I might pick it up soon. It was one of the first times I’ve used an applicator like this and I absolutely love it! It blends everything very naturally and gets into every space nook and cranny of your face. After, I sealed everything with Rimmel’s Stay Matte Pressed Powder and applied it with my ELF’s Studio Powder Brush, which is an oldie, but a goodie. Contour, Highlight, Blush, and Eyebrows: I contoured my face using Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer and using Real Technique’s Retractable Kabuki Brush. I applied the product in the hallows of my checks, temples of my forehead and on my jaw line and I make sure to blend it out. Next I applied BareMineral’s Ready Blush with a Kirkland Blush Brush. I applied this to apples of my cheeks and a dragged a little up along my cheek bone. I then reached for BareMineral’s Well Rested Face and Eye Brightener and applied to to the highest points of my face. I concentrated this on my cheek bones, the bridge of my nose, and my chin. I blended this out with my fingers and my Airbrush Sponge. Then it was time for eyebrows. I grabbed my trusty ELF Studio Eyebrow Kit. I have used this for years and never fails me. I applied it with an old angle brushed and brushed it out with a spoolie to make sure it’s not too harsh on the face. Eyes and Lips:  I primed my eyes with NYX’s Eyeshadow Base with blended it with my fingers. I then grabbed for my Urban Decay Naked Basics Eyeshadows Palette and used the shade Foxy all over my lid and applied Naked 2 and Faint in my crease. I used a Kirkland Fluffy Eyeshadow Brush to apply to all over color on my lid, another Kirkland Eyeshadow to apply the crease colors and used a Sonia Kashuk Large Domed Eye Shadow Brush to blend out the darker colors. After, I applied my L’Oreal Lineur Intense Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner to make a slight cat eye effect.  I then applied two coats of BareMineral’s Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara. This mascara is great for lifting and separating lashes without clumping. I then finished up the look with Maybelline’s Color Sensational Lipcolor is Crazy for Coffee, which gives a great mauvy brown color. I hope you enjoyed this post! Till next time!

First Impressions Review: Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation

I recently went to Sephora to look for some new make up and decided to pick up Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation with SPF 15 in Medium Beige. I’ve heard so many good things about this product and thought, “Why not?” I absolutely love this packaging on this product and the wood details. This product claims to be a long lasting 12-hour and oil free make up. Since I have pretty oily skin, this product really caught my attention. When I tried this product it gave a natural and smooth finish to my skin. I could tell that this foundation was a high quality foundation with great lasting power and good coverage. What I like about this product so far is that a lot goes along with this foundation. All you need for the day is about a small dime sized amount for your whole face for the day. So far, I’m pretty impressed with the product and I’m hoping that this foundation will work out for me.

Hope you enjoyed this quick post! Till next time! 🙂

Make Up Review: Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick

Recently, I bought the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick in Rose in Wood. I bought in online through Nordstrom. Online, it’s shown as a mauvy red tone, which I like. Also, it’s advertised to lock in moisture for 8 hours and give great shine and sheen all day. It’s also said to help condition your lips with infused antioxidants.

When i first received this in the mail, the color of the lipstick was a bit lighter than I had anticipated. I knew that buying it online would be a bit tricky, just because colors are not always the same in person so, that is definitely something to be aware of. But I was fine with the shade. This lipstick is very moisturizing and very smooth, which is amazing on your lips. It give great color and shine to your lips as well. The packaging on this product is also very luxurious. The lipstick itself is pretty heavy and it feels expensive, I mean you are paying $35 for a lipstick. This lipstick is definitely an investment item and something you should take care of when you buy it. Overall, I really do love this lipstick and having been wanting it for a long time. I’m really happy now that I can finally say that I own it. I definitely would recommend this item as well!

Face of the Day: Everyday Products

Today, I thought I’d share with you my “Face of the Day” of my everyday products. Shown above are the products that I use on a daily basis. These products are some of my favorite and reliable products. I’ll start from left to right:

L’Oreal Colour Richie in Silky Java: The lipstick is a great neutral lipstick that easy glides on and a smooth a rich finish.

Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 35 in Light: This is a light weight BB cream that gives great coverage on a casual day out. It last all day!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Dark Brown: I’m still getting use to using pencil brow products rather than powders or wax, but I’m loving this product. The pencil can give a natural look to fill in your brows and you can brush it out with the other end of the product.

Tarte Amazonia Clay Waterproof Concealer in Light: This concealer gives great natural coverage with all day lasting power.

Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder: If you like to contour your face, this product gives a great natural shape to your face. It easily blends and doesn’t give any shimmer to give off a natural finish.

Maybelline Line Stiletto Eyeliner in Blackest Black: This product has been one of my favorites for a long time. This product gives a great opaque black color and last all day with greasy lids.

bareMinerals READY Blush in The One: I love this blush! A little bit goes a long way with this blush. The color is a nice natural rose color that looks great with all skin types.

Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Splashes Waterproof Mascara: This mascara does not clump. No matter how much you put on, it does not clump which is a great plus. This product last all day and easy to apply.

Benefit’s thePOREfessional: This product has easily become a holy grail product of mine. It keeps my skin oil and shine free and helps keep my make up on all day.

Kat Von D Lock-it Tattoo Powder Foundation in Medium 57: This powder foundation is a great full coverage foundation. Even without concealer or liquid foundation, it gives great coverage regardless. And also, a little goes a long way.
